VALENTIN POUDRET
My motivations are philosophical and artistic because I think it is time to reinvent new forms of life in society by taking inspiration from disappeared cultures that had techniques and postures in harmony with nature. Today, modernity allows us to innovate but we must not lose the gestures of the past, my work tries to make these gestures or postures survive because they are resurgences of our collective memory. It is thus necessary to experiment, in a practical and theoretical way in order to move in the present and to reduce the problems of the digital and the hyper-technology. In that the praise of the leak and the slowness are my guidelines in a world that so much to grow in an exponential way without taking care to the total losses that occur. In this way we can speak of a form of resistance and freedom that allow poetry to be born in all situations.

NOMADIC ISLAND PROJECT
I wanted to participate in Nomadic Island because I am particularly interested in the theme of nomadic and alternative housing, I work on these themes in my practice which is strongly linked to life on the margins and respect for nature and biodiversity. This residency interested me for its points and for the open door on the artistic experimentation and the sharing with the residents which for me is a de-compartmentalization of the usual structures in the contemporary art."
TERRA POETICA
Valentin is proposing a philosophical reflection on the contemporary world nourished by the exchange with the local residents on autonomous and independent working practices. Focusing on the topic of nature and the living, he will invite his participants to experiment with writing and drawing. The collective creative process will include considerations on nomadic creation, auto-edition, hand-made books and collectively made ‘artist’s multiple’.
